Miller Cup Returns To Tilford After 30 Years!

For the first time in the modern I’Anson era, since the days of only two divisions and two innings matches, the Miller Cup will have pride of place in the Barley Mow trophy cabinet as just reward for an enterprising, ambitious and ultimately successful season for the 2nd XI who clinched the Division 3 title with 2 matches to spare.

A seasoned combination of youth and experience ably led in swashbuckling style by Captain Cantwell, and in his absence by Trolley Dolly Rick Austin, have had an astonishing season playing the style of aggressive cricket that Owen Morgan could only dream about.

The success has been the result of a true team effort across the whole squad but a glance at the Fantasy League MVP scores shows the strength of the batting at the top of the order from Canters, Spotty and JB, newcomer Henry Bate (who even found time to get married) and old timer Hamish – so good to see the cockerel strutting his stuff once more on Tilford’s Green and pleasant land.

The bowling plaudits go to Knotty, Rambo and the all rounders; Canters, Beaver, Clem and Johnny Barren swinging both ways all season, with fantastic support from the youthful Jack Cantwell and Boz whose contributions in the field are also worthy of acclaim.

Huge thanks are also due to Gemma who, no one will be surprised to hear, has scored every week.2nd XI Squad Photo
