In the lead up to this year’s cricket World Cup each hosting county has a brief opportunity to parade the trophy. Surrey CC have the trophy on Sunday 12th May and as part of that day will be bringing it to the Green at Tilford.
On that date Tilford CC will be hosting a fixture against The Authors, whose team last year included stand up comic and Test Match Special statistician Andy Zaltzman and so it promises to be an entertaining fixture to watch.
To make the most of the day Tilford CC will be running a BBQ, a tea and cake tent and selling locally-produced ice creams from about 2pm. In addition, of course, will be the usual attractions of the Barley Mow pub!
As a way to help raise the profile of the local cricket I’Anson league, we have agreed with Surrey CC to have the opportunity for a group photo to include a representative from each I’Anson club with the trophy. TCC have therefore invited each I’Anson club to consider putting forward a rep to join the group photo with the trophy. We expect this photo to take place between 4pm and 5.30pm.
Of course we would be delighted to see anyone on the Green that afternoon. There will be additional free parking in the field just over the bridge (behind the Barley Mow).
If anyone has any questions about the day please contact Geoff Coombe at TCC on firstname.lastname@example.org
